I love a shoe that is comfortable, durable and affordable. That is what I think of my Merrell Capras. I also love a company that is willing to take a challenge, hike with its customers, support local and love what they do. Merrell does all of this and more.
I discovered Merrell while working for River Rock Outfitter. Keith and April have had them on the shelves since the day they opened and for a good reason. Merrell has been around since 1981 starting off with just three people. The company has grown to include hiking, trail-running, winter boots, sandals and everything in-between. Most of the companies shoes include a Vibram sole, a sole custom to each shoe, and many of their shoes are also Vegan friendly. They also have an apparel line, which is dang comfortable if I do say so myself. I wear my Merrell shoes everywhere I go and am proud to say that Merrell has taken me on as a brand ambassador.
“So how does a shoe company make local impact?” you ask. Merrell has come to multiple River Rock Outfitter events through our Meetup: Rappahannock Area Hikers. I have personally hiked with Merrell employees and look forward to running the Tough Mudder, sponsored by Merrell, later this year. Tomorrow we host Community Give Day in support of Special Olympics Chapter 11-Camp Spirit! Camp Spirit! is a local day camp, free of charge for school age children who have intellectual disability or an autism spectrum disorder. Merrell will be at our event with goodies, info on gear and supporting a local non-profit that is near and dear to our hearts.
Making an impact on the local community is a powerful gesture. Merrell continues to show us their support and love for Rappahannock Area Hikers. I look forward to the mud on every pair I own and working with this awesome company both locally and on my adventures. I highly recommend you check out their products – you won’t regret it!
