I am a paddler at heart. I started canoeing and kayaking when I was young, going out with my parents on lakes and reservoirs. When I was about 12 years old I started attending Mountain Adventure School summer camps at a local outfitter on the Rappahannock River. There I discovered my love for rivers. Over the next few years I was introduced to the sport of white water kayaking, and was instantly hooked. I progressed in the sport and received my white water kayak instructor certification through the ACA. Since then I have traveled up and down the coast paddling some of America’s greatest runs, some favorites being Tallulah Gorge down in Georgia, and the Upper Yough in Maryland. A few years after teaching white water, I was introduced to the sport of Stand Up Paddle boarding. I instantly loved boards for flat water, and began developing my skills. I went on to obtain my certification to teach SUP, and have plans to do some multi-day expedition trips on my board with my Australian shepherd on lakes and tidal sections of rivers. I love getting people out on the water. Seeing people develop the same passion and respect for rivers is a great reward. I look forward to introducing more people to the world of paddle sports.
